Dreaming is generally considered a private affair. You fall asleep, your mind produces an elaborate series of events, and you wake up trying to explain exactly what happened, but often fall short. But what if someone else remembers being there too?
Reports of two people experiencing remarkably similar dreams are commonly referred to as mutual dreaming, or shared dreaming. The accounts vary, some describe the same setting or sequence of events. Others claim to have interacted with one another, only to discover upon waking that both remember the encounter.
“The dreamers are not necessarily generating identical images. They are, according to the belief, visiting the same place.”
Are these people experiencing two similar dreams, or did they somehow participate in the same one?
