The publication

Privacy

We collect the least we need to keep your membership in order and understand the publication in aggregate. This page is the plain account of that.

01

Who we are

The Frequenter is an independent publication. This policy covers thefrequenter.com, the weekly letter, Frequenter membership, and the print edition.

Questions about your data go to hello@thefrequenter.com. We will answer.

02

What we collect

If you sign up for the letter, we keep your email address and an unsubscribe token so we can send the letter and honour a request to stop.

If you create an account, we keep your email, a password we cannot read, and the stories you save.

If you become a Frequenter, we also keep the name, email, postal address, phone number and birthday you give us so we can run your account as your membership entails and confirm you are 13 or older.

If you write to us, we keep the correspondence long enough to reply and, if needed, to resolve what you asked.

03

How we use it

We use this information to send the letter, process membership, mail any purchased items or correspondence, reply to you, and keep the site working.

We look at reading and signup patterns in aggregate so we can tell what the publication is doing. That work is not used to build a profile of you for advertising.

04

What we do not do

We do not sell reader data. We do not sell our email list. We do not run third-party advertising on the site.

For Frequenters, we do not use your birthday for marketing. It is there so your customized astrology and numerology features can work as promised.

05

Analytics and cookies

The site uses first-party cookies to keep you signed in and to remember what you have saved.

In production we use Vercel Analytics, which records visits in aggregate and does not use advertising cookies or a cross-site tracker. You can refuse non-essential cookies in your browser. The site will still work.

06

Who else sees it

We use a small number of processors to run the publication: hosting, the membership database, email delivery, and, when checkout is live, a payment processor. They see only what they need to do that job, and they are not permitted to use it for their own marketing.

We will share information if the law requires it, or if it is the only way to protect a person from serious harm.

07

How long we keep it

Letter addresses stay until you unsubscribe, then we keep enough to honour that choice and stop writing to you.

Account and membership records stay while the account is open. If you ask us to delete an account, we remove what we can and keep only what we must keep for tax, shipping or legal reasons, for as short a time as those reasons allow.

08

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can unsubscribe from the letter at any time from the link in any issue, or from your account.

Write to hello@thefrequenter.com from the address we have on file.

09

Children

The Frequenter is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than that.

10

Changes

If this policy changes in a material way, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If you have an account, we may also write to the email we have for you.
