September was a month that asked us to examine the structure we’ve built, question the rules we’ve been working within and cut what was no longer necessary.
October looks at the new foundation and asks whether it holds up.
The month in one sentence
October brings love, money, trust and power back to the table, then asks you to carefully read the terms before signing anything new.
The larger story
October asks what you value, what it costs and whether the arrangement around it works. Venus stations retrograde in Scorpio on October 3, turning attention toward trust, intimacy, shared money and the obligations attached to desire. When Venus returns to Libra on October 25, the focus shifts to reciprocity.
Both of October’s major Moon phases occur in signs ruled by Venus. The Libra New Moon asks how money, work and decisions are divided. The Taurus Full Moon asks whether that division leaves everyone with enough money, time and rest. An agreement can divide responsibilities evenly and still demand more than the people involved can give.
Power also matters this month. Pluto turning direct in Aquarius draws attention to who makes the rules in a group; Venus’s square to Pluto brings that question into a relationship or exchange. Mars trine Saturn offers a practical opening to act on what you notice: choose a commitment that fits your resources and give it a structure you can maintain.
The Venus cazimi on October 23 may sharpen your understanding of what you want. Mercury stations retrograde in Scorpio the next morning, bringing attention to what was said, assumed or omitted. Insight helps, but the terms still need to be spoken clearly. October gives you time to examine them, check the facts and revise what no longer works.
“October asks for an honest accounting. The focus moves from the structures you revised in September to the desires and agreements those structures were built to serve.”
October 3: what is worth the cost?
Venus stations retrograde at 8 degrees Scorpio on October 3. Its apparent position will move back through Scorpio and into Libra before it stations direct on November 13. This is the transit that sets October’s central question. During this retrograde, the astrological invitation is to examine an exchange more closely. What are you getting from it? What are you giving up to keep it?
Venus also rules Libra and Taurus, the signs of October’s New Moon and Full Moon. The Libra New Moon on October 10 brings the question into relationships and agreements. The Taurus Full Moon on October 26 brings it down to what helps you feel materially secure. October 3 opens a review that the rest of the month will keep developing.
October 10: a better agreement begins with an honest one
The New Moon forms at 17 degrees Libra on October 10. At a New Moon, the Sun and Moon appear together in the sky and the Moon’s illuminated side faces away from Earth. Astrologically, this begins a lunar cycle. It is a quieter point for choosing a focus and taking a first step, before the outcome is visible.
In Libra, that focus turns toward partnerships, agreements and the ways we make room for one another. Venus rules Libra, and Venus is retrograde in Scorpio. A new intention may grow out of a relationship or arrangement already under review. That may feel like noticing who always makes the plan, absorbs the extra expense or adjusts when something changes. The issue might be small enough to dismiss on its own. Repetition, however, gives it weight. If you want a different arrangement, say what you need before offering a compromise.
October 15: who holds the power?
Pluto stations direct in Aquarius on October 15 after moving retrograde since May. Pluto is a slow-moving planet, so this station belongs to a longer story about power, exposure and change. Aquarius brings groups, networks and collective arrangements into that story. Who sets the rules? Who benefits from them? Who has been left out of the conversation?
This may feel like recognizing a pattern in a workplace, community or friendship group that has been present for some time. Someone always makes the decisions. Someone else does the work without the authority. An arrangement everyone calls normal starts to look like a choice that could be made differently.
Venus retrograde has already raised questions about power in intimate exchanges. Pluto turns the lens outward. Notice how the larger group shapes what each person feels able to ask for, and where your own influence begins.
October 16: give the idea a structure
Mars in Leo forms a trine with Saturn retrograde in Aries on October 16. In astrology, a trine is a 120-degree angle between planets and is generally read as a point of ease. Both signs are fire, bringing Mars’s drive to act into an easier relationship with Saturn’s concern for limits, responsibility and follow-through.
This can feel like finding a workable next step after days of thinking about the problem. Make the proposal, set a date or define what you can take on. Confidence has more to work with when the plan fits the time and resources you actually have.
October is full of reviews and questions that may take longer to answer. The Mars–Saturn trine offers a way to act within that uncertainty: choose one commitment you can keep, then give it a place in your calendar.
October 20: notice the pattern, not just the person
Retrograde Venus in Scorpio squares Pluto in Aquarius on October 20. A square is a 90-degree angle that astrologers read as friction requiring attention. Venus brings relationships, desire and money into the picture. Pluto brings power, control and the larger arrangements that determine who has a choice.
The immediate trigger may be small, but the feeling it produces is much larger. Ask whether this is an isolated disagreement or one example of a pattern. Who gets to set the terms? Who worries about what will happen if they object?
Pluto stationed direct five days ago, bringing questions about influence into the wider October story. Now Venus puts those questions inside a relationship or exchange. Its retrograde continues toward a meeting with the Sun on October 23. Notice the pattern you can name today; you may understand more about what you want from it as the week unfolds.
October 23: the heart of the Venus retrograde
Late on October 23, retrograde Venus meets the Sun at 0°45′ Scorpio. Astrologers call this close conjunction a cazimi, meaning “in the heart of the Sun.” The Sun entered Scorpio earlier that day, bringing the themes of intimacy, trust and shared resources into sharper focus.
In traditional astrology, a planet at cazimi is considered especially fortified. Its qualities are concentrated, purified and given fresh strength by its meeting with the Sun. For Venus, this can make your sense of taste, desire or creative direction feel unusually clear. An insight may arrive quickly and feel fully formed: you understand what you want, why you want it, or which part of the wanting belongs to an older version of you. This is a fresh point in Venus’s cycle while the retrograde continues. Write down what becomes clear, even if you are still working out what to do with it. The value of this moment may be a sharper question, a changed preference or the beginning of a new way to choose.
October 20 exposed tension around power and exchange. The cazimi gives you a chance to ask what matters beneath that tension. Venus remains retrograde until November 13, so there is time to see what you want to do with it.
October 24: say what was actually meant
Mercury stations retrograde at about 21 degrees Scorpio early on October 24. From Earth, Mercury will appear to move backward across the Scorpio degrees it covered after October 4. Mercury governs communication, information and the details that shape an agreement. Scorpio draws attention to what has been kept private or left implicit.
Venus brought the question of value to the surface; Mercury asks how clearly it has been discussed. An insight from the previous night can be useful without becoming the final word. Put it into language another person can understand, then listen to what comes back.
October 25 to 26: what feels safe?
Venus retrograde returns to Libra on October 25. Just after midnight Eastern time on October 26, the Full Moon forms at 2 degrees Taurus, opposite the Sun in Scorpio. At a Full Moon, the side facing Earth is illuminated. Astrologically, this is a point of culmination: something developing through the lunar cycle becomes easier to see.
The Moon is traditionally considered exalted in Taurus, a sign associated with bodily needs, material stability and the pleasures that make ordinary life feel livable. Across from it, the Scorpio Sun brings shared resources and emotional entanglements into view. The question is concrete: what do you need to feel secure, and which parts of that security depend on someone else?
What October is asking of you
October asks for an honest accounting. The focus moves from the structures you revised in September to the desires and agreements those structures were built to serve.
The priorities are practical:
- Review what you want before defending what you already have.
- Notice where attraction, loyalty or fear makes an unfair arrangement look inevitable.
- Give a sensitive conversation enough time to become specific.
- Separate a person’s behavior from the older pattern it activates in you.
- Ask who holds power in a shared decision, including the power to leave or change the terms.
- Revisit the details of money and commitments without assuming every complication is a crisis.
- Build a form of security you can actually feel, not only describe.
- Let an answer develop through the retrogrades before calling it final.
Things to do this month
- Perform a resurrection. Give life to one idea, project or creative experiment you abandoned. Venus retrograde invites a second look; the Mars–Saturn trine gives you a way to finish something.
- Say the thing you’re scared of aloud. If the same resentment keeps returning, identify the arrangement underneath it. Put the feeling into words.
- Learn to subtract. Around the Taurus Full Moon, look at the money, time, rest and help you actually have. Compare them with what your commitments require. Remove what does not make sense.
